Dressing Up Your Invitations

Looking for fun and inexpensive ways to accessorize and dress up your stationery? Sometimes the simplist of invitations can be transformed to a spectacular showpiece, just by adding a few small features.

  • Ribbons & Bows

Ribbons come in all sorts of colours, sizes and textures. Silk and organza ribbon are the more popular types, however cheaper alternatives such as rafia and cord are just as suitable, as shown below.

In many cases the use of ribbon can take the simplist of invitations from "nice" to "WOW". All it takes is an idea, and a little bit of effort.

  • Lovely Layers

Layering is a simple and easy way to add texture and depth to your invitations. With a huge variety of coloured and textured stocks now available, the possibilities are endless.

Not just limited to card, you can also incorporate textiles and strips of fabric, to achieve the look you're going for.

  • Folders & Pouchettes

A very popular feature to wedding stationery, pre-bought pouchettes and enclosures can end up being very expensive. The trick is to find a design that you can create yourself.

Rectangular sheets of card can be easily folded to create a beautiful presentation package for your wedding stationery, as shown in the examples below.

A simple gate-fold is easy to make. Sealed with a ribbon, it makes for a beautiful presentation package.

  • Stick-Ons & Embelishments

Embellishments are truly a limitless feature, that can help you create something that is truly your own.
Sequins, pearls, rhinestones, pressed flowers, shells, textiles, and so much more. Traditional items include envelope seals or faux wax stamps.
